The Haj Committee of India (HCI) has said that it is in touch with the Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure that all those pilgrims whose status have been confirmed are issued visas. HCI said in a statement on Thursday that there were some passports of Haj pilgrims at their office which did not carry visa endorsement by the Saudi Consulate. Pilgrims with visa endorsement will be allotted the flight.
It said the Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with the Saudi Consulate to get additional visas to accommodate all pilgrims whose status have been confirmed through draw of lots. Cases where the passports of male members of the family have not been endorsed with visas, are being taken up with the Consulate authorities.
HCI said several complaints have come from Gujarat where female pilgrims were issued visas and the male family members denied the same.
The release said that those pilgrims whose status was shown confirmed and who were not able to proceed for Haj due to vsa problem, will be given confirmed status for next year’s Haj without ‘qurrah’ or draw of lots. HCI said it regretted the inconvenience caused to such pilgrims.
